CLEANING DAY

Neverending dust. The carpet is outside, I am beating it with the broom. Ash, hair, & non-specific dust poofing out. Whack it again. Emily and I roll it up, carry it back inside. Unroll it, the sunshine shows particles. Filthy again. Lame rug.

wild animals

FRee. broken drawers.
Time to get the garden started. But, we have a pack of deer who nibble our yard away, bit by bit, daily. So, we need to clear the grass, and shake the sod, make beds, plant crops, and construct a tall, tall fence. Not necessarily in that order.

I am still listening to The Mamas and the Papas, they are the real deal.
Next month is looking big: We have a hot line-up of out-of-town visitors. Elyse, Ryka, Lily&Liam, River, and Adam K.
Jarrod says there are raccoons living under the porch. Did I hear a rat behind the record shelf?

I am ghost, creeping around on the deck. Look.

Too much information

Things change. They really do. I went over to my mom's house today to drop off some leftover pasta for her. (One container of sauce, and one container of noodles.) While I was there, I looked through some old photos that were on the computer. I was using her computer to upload photos onto for a spell. The images are mostly from the last few years.... My old job at the cheese factory, the ex-boyfriend, a now deceased cat, photos from my dad's memorial, some shots from Seattle. It all got to me. So I walked back out into the ACTUAL day, and took some MORE PHOTOS at the abandoned San Juan Grocery. Then I came home and had some of that SAME pasta and sauce, uploaded the new images onto OUR computer, and messed around with this one on the Paint program. Scratchy.
xoxo.

DECON

A somehow symbolic post-valentine's day chore: deconstructing beds. Today was a sunny day, so Megan and I set up our two degenerate box springs on the porch and tore them to pieces. We listened to the new Kanye West album(thanks Virginia!) and enjoyed the work. I used a pocket knife and a hammer. Megan used an axe, a hatchet and a pair of scissors. We ended with three boxes of kindling, two piles of fabric waste and a sheet of metal springs.

AGAIN

Oh, no. We are freezing again, friends. The sky turned dark around 3 o'clock yesterday, then the ice pellets came crashing down. It turned to snow, the chickens went off and hid somewhere.
We came in, lit a fire and put on The Grateful Dead's 'Workingman's Dead.'
Long winter what'll ya do? I hauled that huge television set back inside and hooked it up to the cable connection in the band room. I sat in a rocking chair and watched 2 hours of 'Intervention', which is a horrifying program. TV watching was bookended by watching gangster rap videos on YouTube(pre) and reading an essay on Walt Whitman(post).

tri-area and beyond

Megan and I hit the road yesterday in her NEW VAN. We call her 'Cool Water'. Last night was Johnny and Erin's land warming party, out Quilcene way.
Megan and I spent the night at the property. In the morning we hopped back into the van and headed out to Dharma Ridge farm to visit a couple of funny donkeys. Megan's friend recently bought two donkeys. She wants to use them for plowing and hauling around the farm.
I like the Chimacum/Four corners area, the roads link up in unexpected ways. There are lots of "short cuts" and "back roads".

Nice Scout!

I saw this Scout a few blocks from the house. I like the homemade camouflage.
